Creative Expressions Studio & Gallery opened February 25, 2008 in downtown Commerce at 1215 Washington Street and is owned by mother and daughter, Brenda Johnson (right) and Sandi Moore (left).  The gallery features local and regional artists in a variety of media including silver jewelry, fine art, pottery, mosaics and stained glass.

After being a part-time artist for many years, while working in her 'day job' in the corporate world, Brenda is finally pursuing her dream of owning and operating a gallery.  Her daughter, Sandi, just graduated with her Masters in Social Work at A&M Commerce and is pursuing her clinical degree while fulfilling her love of art at the gallery part time. 

Brenda and Sandi were busy renovating this space for over a year and although it was in pretty bad condition in the beginning, they were able to restore the original tin ceiling

and wood floors and also uncovered some beautiful marble and sunny upper windows on the storefront which really shows the buildings character.  “It’s been a wonderful experience and I’ve had lots of help getting the gallery to where it is now”, says Brenda, "I had a very talented contractor, Durwood Smith, and lots of great friends helping with the whole process". 

Both mother and daughter have always wanted to have a place where talented artists could show and sell their work on consignment while offering the public a comfortable gallery where they can browse and enjoy beautiful artworks of all kinds.  The gallery also teaches a variety of classes in their studio, so stop by to see their list of classes and examples of class creations.

Creative Expressions Studio & Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
